Athletics
Traditionally, athletics has been a very popular choice for blind and visually impaired sports people.
Between track and field events, there are over ten events to choose from: Sprint, Middle and Long distance running, High jump, Long jump and Shot-put, to mention but a few.
IBS athletes have reached the highest levels in Paralympic competition, winning many medals en route; but our success is not measured by medals alone – many of our members enjoy athletics for the fun and enjoyment associated with being active.
Athletics takes place on a weekly basis in Morton Stadium, Santry, Dublin 9. All ages and standards are encouraged to become involved.
Regular athletes are also invited to take part in athletics weekends in various locations around the country throughout the year. These weekends offer the athlete opportunities to learn more about coaching and training techniques, as well as recommendations on diet and injury prevention.
If you would like to join us as an athlete, or volunteer, please contact us.
