Jason Smyth celebrates double gold after his world record performance in the T13 category 200m at the Paralympics (photo courtesy: Sportsfile) Jason Smyth from Eglinton in Northern Ireland, stormed down the track in Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium today, and ran straight into the Paralympic record books. By winning the 200m in a World Record time (21.43secs.), Jason completed the elusive double of 100m and 200m at this year’s Paralympic Games. A delighted Fred Cogley, President of Irish Blind Sports, said: “We are all delighted and extremely proud of Jason’s tremendous achievement in winning two gold medals; what a fantastic performance by such a young, but fast-maturing athlete. Jason is such a powerful role model for our younger athletes”
