Calling all interested in playing Football!

May 2009

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) are inviting anybody of any age to become involved in all levels of blind/vision impaired football, and is introducing for the first time in Ireland, B1 football for people who are totally blind.

The FAI has recently trained a number of coaches in the development and training of both children and adults who are totally blind to play B1 football. They are also looking to develop and expand the football programme at B2 and B3 level which is for people with varying levels of vision impairment. It doesn't matter if you have never played football before or have never been involved in sport; the coaches are fully trained in coaching people at all levels, ages and abilities.

Irish Blind Sports and the FAI are looking for 'expressions of interest' from anyone who is blind or has a visual impairment and would like to get involved in football. It is hoped that we will have enough interest to establish regional centres within the country where football is played. So if you are blind or vision impaired or know of someone who is please contact Hilary Casey at 01 8307033 or hilary.casey@ncbi.ie to register your interest.
