Irish Blind Golf Society Results, Corrstown G.C. 18 Hole Competition, July 24th, 2009

August 2009

Roode opens up a big gap in 2009 Order of Merit

Wally Roode strode through the July mud, thunderstorms looming, to card 40 points on the Orchard and River nines in Corrstown. A par on the index one second, and pars on most of the par threes contributed significantly to his score. In spite of having more technology in his golf bag than the Apollo 11 moon landing, Adrian Canny could only muster up 36 points. Another fine performance by young Adrian, the "Rory McElroy" of Irish Blind Golf. This leaves Wally Roode fourteen points ahead of his nearest rival in the 2009 order of merit, with two outings remaining.
Our sincere thanks to IBGS Chairman, Peter Gorey, for organising the day for us in his home club. Before the start of play, everyone gathered around the seat on the ninth tee box for a group photograph. Peter has marked his Chairmanship for 2009, by donating a plaque, mounted on the seat, commemorating the name of our society. This is a wonderful donation, advertising our society, and one we are very proud of.
The location and date for our remaining outings are not yet confirmed.
