May Games

March 2010

The 30th anniversary May Games is to be held this year. The Games will take place at the end of May of Saturday 29th May with sporting activities during the day and a celebration dinner that evening. All visually impaired are invited to participate and we would be particularly glad to see some of the now older ‘names from the past’ coming along to participate in the special commemorative events as this is an anniversary games.

The sport of Indoor Rowing is included this year so please come along and pit yourself against one of the best in the world, Shane Ryan Indoor adaptive Rowing World Champion. Each competitor will ‘race’ on an indoor rowing ergometer (rowing machine) attempting to cover the race distance as quickly as they can. The fastest to cover the distance in each category is the winner.

The other usual sports are offered as in previous years such as athletics, swimming, cycling, football and bowling. In bowling you can challenge Catherine Leacy, Margaret Leacy and (who recently won Gold and Silver Medals against competitors from around the world) at the Malmo open.
