Recreational Football

March 2010

Recreational soccer training is due to begin in DCU on Thursdays starting April 14th and running for an initial 6 week period, with the intention to continue longer if sufficient numbers of players are attending.

These sessions are limited to visually impaired footballers only.

The sessions will start at 5pm and run until 7pm. We will review the timings if necessary but later hours incur greater cost and hence need regular numbers to maintain the session.

All are welcome – male or female – between the age of 8 – 18 for juniors and over 18yrs for adults.

The cost will be €2 per person per session to help defray with costs of the venue hire.

More venues are planned for other cities in June.

In addition there will be a mainstream football camp run by the FAI in Kildare Town between Aug 2nd and 6th with a section exclusively to blind or visually impaired kids (male or female, aged 7 -14yrs). Anyone interested in taking part in this camp should book and pay via www.fai.ie Where they indicate that they are visually impaired or blind, Oisin Jordan of the FAI will assign them to the correct group for the Kildare Town camp.

We are still awaiting confirmation of dates and venues for football in Youghal, Co Cork where it is planned that there will be soccer for blind and visually impaired kids weekly or fortnightly.
